Voyage Optimisation Routing: Yellow Segments for Wave Direction Warnings

Wave direction warnings are now displayed as yellow warning segments on the route instead of red danger segments, allowing more practical routing while maintaining safety visibility.

Question: What do yellow vs. red segments mean on my route when there's a wave warning?

  • Yellow segments indicate a wave direction warning — the route can still be generated even if directional wave height limits are exceeded, since this is treated as a warning rather than a strict safety limit. The associated weather warning icon is also shown in yellow.

  • Red segments indicate a standard wave height warning (significant wave height exceeding limits) — this is treated as higher risk and is never allowed to exceed the maximum safety limit.

This split exists because treating directional wave height as a strict safety limit could previously produce unrealistic, zig-zag routing. Downgrading it to a warning allows more practical routing while still keeping you informed when conditions need extra attention.
